By default, all files downloaded using Google Chrome will be stored under Local Disk (C:), specifically the “Download” folder.

For people that often download files from the internet, it would be wise if you change Chrome default download location onto another drive partition — allowing C: drive to reserve enough space for the system.

To change Chrome’s download directory, please follow the instructions below.

How to change Chrome default download location

1. Run Google Chrome on your device, click the menu button, symbolized by three vertical dots in the upper-right corner of the window.

2. Then, select Settings or you can go through shortcut chrome://settings/ on the address bar.

3. At the bottom of the Settings page, click the Advanced button.

4. Scroll down until you reach the Downloads section. Click Change to browse substitution folder location.

5. Select the desired location and click Select Folder to confirm.

6. Close the Settings page after finished (CTRL+W).

…and now every file that is going to download will be shipped to the folder you’ve selected. Please note that the files that already downloaded will not be moved.

Also, you can have Chrome ask you every time the download process going to start. To activate this feature, go to Settings > Advanced > Downloads > Ask where to save each file before downloading.
